GEN light always on?
stellar, I got her all hooked up. GEN light goes off when the engine is running. Working as it should. Thanks to you and Vintage Chief, finally got to the bottom of this. Gonna tidy wires up, keep things simple. I am, however, getting about 15.1 volts when the engine is running, measured at the battery. Is this cause for concern?
Suggest you review the electric fan wiring. It's a challenge on older earlier vehicles since you may not have a dedicated open/available IGN source (slot) in the fuse panel to accommodate a plug-in as you'll find on fuse panels of later model vehicles. Your best avenue to is install/insert/wire a dedicated relay onto the electric fan wire. You should also have an in-line fuse in the positive (+) wire for the electric fan. Many who install an electric fan into older vehicles install a separate (dedicated) toggle switch (or similar) for an electric fan. Yes, you'd need to turn on the electric fan via the switch. With that said, it's your call but having the electric fan reside on the positive (+) wire of the VR is not the most appropriate location. I've seen electric fans wired directly off the junction block (which is upstream from the VR power wire where you have yours installed). In any case, review the instructions for the electric fan installation & spend some time on-line researching what others have done. At a minimum you should have an in-line fuse of appropriate size, best to have a relay (which reduces amperage burden on that wire).
Installing/Connecting/Wiring the electric fan resides outside of this discussion. Best to create a separate thread if you want assistance from other members (and, there are plenty of members who have done this).

BTW, in your other alternator thread >>>5 you stated (Post 16 this thread):
This is not true. I'm pointing this out because you have a wiring issue and will continue to have some form of wiring issue if you don't get the wiring in a healthy state. Always better to be able to drive these classics rather than watch them burn to the ground.
You have wiring issues. To be exact - you are taking a Brown GEN warning lamp wire which is/was attached to bare metal on the firewall and attaching it to the center (Armature) terminal of the VR - wait for it..........which already has SOME UNKNOWN wire attached to it. You have a wiring issue. You best find out exactly where that current wire you're removing from that center VR terminal is supposed to go.
This is all original wiring. There are some chunks of wire from regulator to generator that look 'iffy'; somewhat burnt, some insulation getting thin as well.

I envy you guys. I have no idea how to post a good picture or how to put arrows and circles on a picture. I'm guessing you use one of the newer phones to do it. I have an old camera, an old computer an old phone and an old mind. Probably time to hang it up and let the enlightened ones run. Even when I tried to enlarge the diagrams all I got was a fuzzy picture. I should probably spend some time learning the new technology, but there is a saying about old dogs and new tricks. keep up the good work guys.
Regarding software and images. I own Microsoft Professional Office Suite. I can manipulate & edit images faster than a snail fart.
