Flasher?

85 Delta 88.

Worked one second, then hasn't worked since

The left t/s will not flash, the the right one will never seen that before

4 ways work fine, but I know they are on a different flasher. I also forget which one is which

Check your connections - probably a bad bulb or ground or a dirty socket on the Left side.

If the 4 ways work, probably something in your wiring from the stalk? Maybe dumb question, but when you say the the t/s won't flash, are you looking at the dash, or at the front/rear signal lights? When one of the bulb elements burns out it can make the signal indicator on the dash stay on solid. As MDchanic says, it could be a dirty socket or bad connection. Possibly a bad ground too.

If a light is out or you've got a bad connection, the flasher on the affected side may behave badly (no guarantee), but the 4-way will function normally.

As Allan says, the first step is to get out and look at all your lights while the problem is occurring. Check your brake lights to be sure they're functioning normally, too.

Soild on on the dash and the front t/s, didn't check the rear.

I could have knocked something loose when I replaced the bumper. I took the taillights off to do it

So, check the rear. remember you have an upper and lower bulb on the rear. Even one of them that's on solid, or the other one not on at all will cause your problem.

Replace the bulb that is not working.
If that doesn't work, clean the bulb sockets and make sure the grounds are good. That is a common problem on these old cars - bad grounds. I had a problem like this on my front left signal. Turned out to be a bad contact in the signal socket. Cleaned it up, put in a new bulb - 1157a - and it worked like a charm. You really have to check both ends of the car though to find the problem bulb.

If you have a 72 CSM, look on page12-38/12-39 for more details on open circuits. Hope it is only a simple problem.
