engine dies

engine dies

i finally got my car running, 65 starfire , but when i crank it ,it starts right up,but as soon as let the key go it dies, any help would be appreciated,will

Check the wiring. It sounds as though the power to the coil in the run position is absent.

My guess is ignition switch. My 64 Starfire did the same thing many years ago.

I had the same issue when I wired in a Ford Starter solenoid. Turned out I had wired the ignition to the wrong side of the solenoid.

what have you done to get the car running? did you do any wiring repairs?

well when i took body off, i took complete harness out of car ,tested what i could, fixed a couple of cracked wires ,and hoped for the best,had to take fuse box apart ,there had been a water leak, so it was pretty nasty,also this was two years ago. with my memory ,its like i never did it,any way thanks for the help , will go out today and just look to see if something is out of place, will

who new , got it to stay running,it was the idle screw, was backed all the way out when rebuilt,so thanks again for the help, will.
