hi, car started 2 months ago no problem,65 starfire, any way when i go to start the volt meter goes to 12 volts ,but when turn to crank engine it goes back to 0, and starter does not click or nothing , cleaned battery terminals and where the junction box is with the horn relay. cleaned the ground on the block that goes from the battery, i must be losing my mind,use to be able to figure stuff like this right a way, any way can any body help me on this , thanks . will.

 

Check the nuteral switch push wigle as you turn it over. Try a good charger with a start boost if it fire's get a new 12 source . If it still wont crank check the ingition switch

 

After a couple months of sitting the battery could need a charge

 

Does it click or anything, do the headlights go out when you try and start it??

 

Try just turning on the lights and see what the voltage drops to. Make sure the battery cable connections are good at all ends.
Either super bad battery or bad connection (I suspect the latter).

 

hi, thanks for all the replies,i did check battery ,its good,turned on head lights .then tried to crank engine they did not dim at all. the only clicking i hear is the horn relay i think.also if i turned the head lights on ,and watch the volt meter, it drops very little.took console off ,and i don,t see any thing wrong. but who knows,like i said started perfect 2 months or so ago. now nothing ,also went under car and tightened the nut on the solinoid,to make sure good conection , also almost all this electrical stuff is new , to ,ok ,thanks again for all the help.will.

 

noticed something else ,when i turn key to on position, generator light comes on, then when i go to crank it , the light gets bright , if that is any help, thanks will.

 

put a jumper on the nuetral saftey switch, back up lights worked with jumper , and when i put jumper in the other plug ,engine turned over , so guess i need a new switch, so i thank all for the help, it really helps with the extra suggestions, gets ya thinking better, will.
