So, just as the title says, I'm curious about disabling the door/ignition buzzer on my Ninety-Eight. It seems to have a slight electrical glitch wherein it beeps rapidly every time the key is set to the on position, whether the door is open or not. The owner's manual says that this tone is meant to double the warning lights to indicate an issue while driving (overheat/door open/low oil etc). I'm guessing it might be a glitch within the ignition switch itself, though the beeping goes away when the engine is running. Still, it's mildly irritating, because I have to start the engine to roll down the windows, or else I hear "beepbeepbeepbeepbeep!"
Reading up on it, I see something about cutting power to the buzzer by pulling a pink wire going to a box near the under dash fuse array. Attached is a picture of what I suspect is the part with a pink wire going out the bottom. Am I looking in the right place? Failing that, is there a more elegant way to troubleshoot the buzzer?
Disconnecting the pink/black wire is for the older A body cars with the key buzzer/horn relay under the hood. This won’t work on your car.
The chine module is mounted behind the dash panel, the the left of the steering column. You could remove it, but then the headlight warning won’t work either. It’s possible the chime module itself is defective, occasionally you get one that won’t shut up.
You could remove the steering wheel, lock plate, and turn signal switch to get to the key buzzer switch and remove it. That’s slot of work.
The quicker/ easier solution would be to remove the key buzzer switch wires from the turn signal connector at the base of the column. I believe they are light green and tan.

That's a thought. I'll have to take a look at it in the daylight. I'm not terribly worried about the headlight warning, as long as shutting up the buzzer, or at least making it only sound off as it's supposed to, doesn't interfere with any other functions. Shades of a weird electrical glitch I had on one of my Fleetwood Broughams.
