Delco AM, AMFM 8 track player repair

I don't post a lot on Classic Olds but I do get a lot of inquiries about radio/8track player repair. Just to update everyone I have been retired for 3 years now. Former Electrical Engineer specializing in automotive semiconductors for Motorola and all of is spinoffs. When I'm not fly fishing or playing pickleball or hiking I repair and restore a lot of radios and 8 track players for BOP Chevy and Caddy owners, Most work can be done in 7-10 days. I work on radios/players from the early 50's up to the late 80's. I can add Bluetooth operation to almost any radio AM or AMFM. This is a seamless one button setup that allows the user to play Spotify/Sirius etc through your radio, I don't gut the radio or modify the internal circuitry in any way and the Bluetooth can be turned on and off by simply pushing one of the 5 presets. Normal radio operation resumes when the bluetooth is off.
I charge a flat fee for all my repairs:
AM radio repair is $199
AMFM mono or stereo radio repair is $299 (AMFM has a lot of extra circuitry)
8 track player repair is $199
Bluetooth mod is just $100
No payment is required until I send you a video showing your items in working condition,
I warranty my repairs for 10 years no questions asked.
If you need your audio equipment repaired while your car is in storage this winter send it to me here

I also carry some classic olds radios that are in working condition. Let me know what you need and I'll send pics. Thanks for reading my post and happy motoring.

Is this service a component level repair on the original circuit boards, or a replacing with modern circuit boards?

Koda, I don't modify the original circuitry in any way. The original radio design by Delco is really good and generally speaking very repairable. I troubleshoot to component level and typically the issues I come across can be repaired with transistors and other passive components still widely available. Thanks for the question. Jim

looking for a 1970 442 8 Track, do you have anything, may consider a non-working core with under dash interior piece.

Component level repair. I don't convert radios. Once a radio is gutted there's no coming back from that. All of the components in this radio are still widely available, I keep them original. Thanks!

Jim, just wondering if this is the kind of kit you wire to 12VDC by using one of the factory preset buttons? I hope that wouldn't be divulging secrets.

I've wanted to do a repair on the OE AC Delco AM/FM radio in my 71 98. I guess I have to get some more detailed service manuals and a good, reasonably priced RF test set.

well how I turn on and off the Bluetooth varies from model to model. I think for the big body cars I have to use something external to do the job as it’s pretty crowded in there. For my test bench I use a Sencore AMFM SIGNAL GENERATOR and I can use this same generator to troubleshoot audio issue too. I think it’s obsolete but you might be able
to find one on the web. Typically they need a little work to get it performing accurately.

I like the prices of some of those used Sencoe generators I see online. Much more reasonable than any Anritsu or Aeroflex RF test set I use at work teaching radios. We'll see if I end up buying one of the manuals I mention in the other thread. 🤔

Face light out

The bulb is good but no power at the switch it's connected to. Bad circuit board?

The radio circuitry and the bulb are powered at the same time when the volume/on/off switch is on. If you have no power to the radio check the fuse and then try the on off switch multiple times as the switch can internally get gummed up due to non usage. If it still doesn't come on send it to me and I'll fix it quickly and send it back in 7 days. Good luck,
