1116387 is an internal regulator for a 442. Other models had the external regulator mounted on the firewall. 1119515 is the external type.

I merged these two threads since they are duplicates. Please do not post duplicate questions in different forums, as it can cause those helping to post (and or look up) the same info twice.
Thanks!

Thanks for all the help. the 515 is the common one across the GM platform. was not sure with the higher amp for A/C. Looked thru the assembly manual in the electrical section and did not see a part number

thanks again

Aside from unusual applications, like high output police or ambulance, all GM regulators from about '63 (first alternator models) to '73 (internal regulators - 442s had these a couple of years earlier) are the same.

Just get a GM regulator - mechanical or electronic, your choice - and you'll be fine.

Junkyard regulators usually work.

I happy a cheap Wells electronic one from Rockauto. Search the forumn and some members have swapped the cover with the original mechanical one to keep everything looking stock under the hood. Might try that someday.

Don't have my Olds catalog here at work to see what may have been spec'd originally but the strongest one I see still available in the AC Delco catalog is #334-2115. It's a 63 amp 10SI model, the 12SI models have a different looking case and fan.

I have a few original voltage regulators, with the raised "Delco Remy" letters.I can see what the numbers are on those.
