Connector for Underhood Lamp

After my car (1970 Vista Cruiser) came back from the paint shop, the lead that connects to the underhood lamp was no longer in a obvious position. I looked for it but did not find it.

According to the wiring diagram, the brown lead starts out at the Main Lamp Switch. Before that wire goes to the Alternator and Forward Lamp Dash Connector, the underhood lamp lead splices in.

As I read the wiring diagram, that means the underhood lamp lead comes through the firewall on its own, rather than through either of the two Dash Connectors.

My question is, at what location does the underhood lamp wire come through the firewall?

Here is the engine compartment wiring diagram from the 1970 Assembly Manual. I'll see if there is another more specific to the Vista Cruiser. If I find one, I'll post it.

Trying to find an image of the firewall wiring for you - might be closing in on it, maybe.

Thanks, Norm. The drawing shows the lead is spliced in the engine compartment, just a few inches from the Alternator and Forward Lamp Dash Connector.

It shows the lead coming out of the loom at the same point as the Differential Brake Switch wire. I found that and found the Underhood Lamp lead there, tangled in brake lines.

I won't trust the wiring diagram anymore.
