you could try the new switch. just carry a spade fuse of 20 amp in the glove box. if the new switch goes bad and quits blowing cold air you can just unplug the switch and put the fuse between the two terminals to get you by. i think that "switch" may be the wrong term but it is what i have called it. new cars don't have this switch. i don't think that they were even on cars by 77 but i am not sure. my 76 98 had one.

Apon further inspection it looks like the 2 wires on the left are already spliced together,,Is this like u mean by bypassing it,,If so it looks like someone has already done this..Should i fix it back the way it should be and use a fuse to join the center wire with the one on the left,,,or will it be fine the way its spliced if that is what you were talking about,,,thanks

it looks like that is what they did. i would make a better splice if you are going to keep it bypassed. at least tape it up good. the fuse that i was talking about was not for protection of the circuit, that is all ready done at the fuse box. it is just an easy way to bypass it for short term use. if you want to bypass it permanently you should splice it and use heat shrink around the connection.
