I have a '68 442 convertible with factory A/C.

The blower motor has an awful squeal at virtually all speeds.

I am assuming the motor will need replaced.

Does anyone know how difficult this replacement is and a recommendation for a vendor to supply the motor?

Unfortunately, this is one PITA job. You need to remove the passenger side fender, or at least the inner fender, to access the blower motor. Expect to have at least one clip nut start spinning.

I would also suggest that if you go that far, you MIGHTASWELL replace the heater core at the same time, since it also requires the fender to come off (to access the bottom bolt on the box).

Yup, same PITA location. Green wire feed. Bolted in just behind the passenger side wheel cover. I'm doing the same thing Joe recommended; changing the heater core at the same time when I do mine.

 

Hey, Have same car, I have a purple wire going nowhere near fender on a/c side. Any idea what it's for?

 

Sounds like it may be part of the hi blower relay?

mine plugs into the little "pig tail" condenser right above the purple wire on my tire.

 

To prevent the clip nut from spinning, put a 1/2 inch box wrench (six point) on the nut first and if your arms are short on one end then have a helper operate the ratchet whilst you hold the wrench firmly to prevent spinning... of course this is on an original '68 clip nut...
