Best ignition for my 1966 Dynamic 88?

Want to keep my car fairly stock but as reliable as possible.
Saw this on Ebay and wondered if anybody had used one from these guys.

Is HEI a good way to go? Is there a better way?

Thanks
Phil.

There is no real gain in the HEI over your points distributor other than you won't have to mess with the points periodically. I your wanting to change its a very easy mod, all that's required is a keyed 12v power source and swap the distributors. You will have to experiment on your timing as the stock timing won't work well. I would find a better Distributor than the cheapie off ebay.

I would stick with points.
HEI or especially pertronix are LESS reliable than a properly maintained points system.
Change points every 10,000 mi and use good (non chinese) points.

Nothing wrong with points and with HEI your original air cleaner might not fit...

Points are dead-on reliable. If you switch to HEI, you'll need to recurve the mechanical and vacuum advance for your engine.

You could switch to a Pertronix or similar electronic trigger, but then you'd have to carry a set of points and condenser with you anyway, in case the electronic setup failed (doesn't happen much, but you'd hate to be the guy without a set of points when it does...)
