Audio wiring for 72 C/S

I'm wanting to finish my interior by installing the carpet kit, but dont have the speakers and radio yet. So I was thinking to run the wire for them with excess so I can just connect them when time comes. I plan on putting a retro radio unit in, as well as kickpanel enclosure's and 2 6x9 in the back package tray. What size wire should I use?, and what's the best way to run them?

The speakers usually come with wire. Its not really necessary to install the wires at this time because most of us run them along the carpet edge, to the door opening, under the kick plate, and then along the carpet edge to the rear seat area. Doesn't take very long.

16 gauge is my preferred general use. Just buy the cheap stuff on the shelf - the fancy stuff isn't worth it unless you're doing something really special.

As said you can run the wire along the edge, or down the middle, or down the middle of each side. Dealer's choice.

Mine has the console so I like to run all the wires from the dash coming down into the nose of the console, back to the shifter then spread out from there. The front speaker wires would go along the inside of the dash (there's a channel there) then drop into the kicks.
