Another relay puzzle for the gurus...
Hi, I'd like to wire in a headlight warning buzzer on my 64 F85, but I'm in a quandary as to how to go about it. I'd like it to buzz with the headlights on, when I open the door. I figure this involves a relay, a buzzer, the headlight feed line and the dome lamp switch. The real puzzle is the dome light is hot all the time and breaking the ground makes the light go out.. I spent a good bit of time online searching for a diagram that would work, but nothing will for a car this old. I found the instrument fuse in the fuse block works as a tap-in point for the switched source.. ground is easy, and I have a buzzer, but the rest of the circuit eludes me. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome! Cheers, Mike

Ok.. thanks for the quick reply! I'm kinda bad understanding this relay stuff , so let me clarify the connections.. 12V ign. is a "keyed" source? I see buzzer "-", but is the positive side of the buzzer 12V constant or also "keyed".. [ please pardon my ignorance.. ] Thanks for your input. Cheers, Mike

I kind of did it a different way. I applied ignition on power to 86 on the relay and a constant ground to 85. Then connected the park light hot to the 30 terminal. Terminal 87 is left blank the hot lead to the buzzer is connected to the 87a terminal and the ground side of the buzzer is connected to the door jamb switch . Most bosh relays have these numbers on them. When the ignition is turned on the parking light power is switched to terminal 87 . When the ignition is turned off parking power is applied to the buzzer and it is activated by the door jamb ground. When the parking lights are off no power is avaliable.

Well, I got it figured out... I ended up wiring it up as the diagram I made. It works... finally. Thanks to all who replied, for sending me in the right direction. Cheers, Mike

Does this buzz when the key is in the ignition or when the car is on (engine not started)?
Or I guess I should ask, does this always sound the buzzer when the lights on/door open, regardless of key position? (Sorry for the ignorant question. I don't see any connection to the key, so I assume it has no effect on the circuit.)
