am/fm ID Help

Hello all,

I have an am/fm factory radio, but I cannot remember if I got it out of a Delta 88 or 98. How do I figure out what I have? What years would this have been an option for? What are these going for these days?

Thank you,

John

John, there were AM/FM factory radios in Delta 88s and 98s from the 60s all the way to the 90s. I'm not aware of any differences between the radio for a Delta 88 and a 98. Perhaps the reverberation option in the 60s was only available on the 98. I'm not sure.

Post some pics so we know what kind of radio you have.

Olds called it "reverbatone" back in the day, and it was available in any of the full-size cars. It was a speaker option, not a radio option, and it was available with any radio. I think the idea was the the signal to the rear speaker was delayed slightly relative to the front, creating an echo effect making the sound a little deeper and richer. In looking at the dealer specs books through the years, the reverb option was only offered up through 1966, the last year that Olds did not offer an FM stereo radio. Once FM stereo was available, the reverb option disappeared.

You should find a paper tag on it with the radio number. You can usually figure out the year & model from that information
