I have a 69 442 , the generator light stays on when turning the ignition off and pulling the key. It goes off when engine starts. Amp meter shows it charging . I don’t know if I have it wired correctly. Doesn’t the generator light supposed to go off when key is pulled ? I’d appreciate any help.
I installed HEI , so will wiring connections change ?

 

Unplug the alternator, if the light goes out it has a leaking diode.

Installed HEI does the wiring change? The power supply to the HEI needs to be full battery voltage and not supplied through the original pink resistance wire that reduces voltage to prevent ignition points from burning.
