I have a 1988 Toronado Base that I would like to add an auto-dimming mirror to. It came factory with a manual dimming mirror. I bought a factory Automatic one that was supposed to come out of a '87 Toronado, which has a 3 pin connector. I found a 2 pin connector behind the roof console with the map lights in it, so I assumed this was for an auto-dimming mirror. If anybody could help me out with this issue I would appreciate it! The original mirror is going bad so if I can add this upgrade that would be sweet!

It’s really easy to swap the auto dimming. Technically, all you have to have is a key on power source and a ground. There is a 3rd wire (green) that is suppose to connect to the reverse lights. Put the shifter in reverse, the mirror goes clear.

read this. I’m still working on a custom mirror housing to hold the compass electronics. It’s on the back burner, if I could bring myself to glue the mirror mount you the windshield it would be done by now.

Btw, my daily driver beater 02 neon, stepdaughter 05 Grand Prox, and dads 81 GMC all have a Gentex auto dimming mirror with compass and temp. They work very well
