The factory tach in my 69 worked just fine(as well as it did with the HEI) with my MSD 6AL box. The factory tachs aren't very accurate even when new, I'm guessing after 40 years they are even worse.

This is for reference the tach in my car plus factory gauges are completely rebuilt and calibrated. I would like to let anybody know that there is a rebuilding service at year one or in the back of hemmings possibly still there though. The service is out of minnesota and very reliable. 1 more note though you have to send them your oil sender unit and fuel float plus water sender unit for calibrating. This service is reasonably priced and they comeback in total tip top shape inc paint.
