Do the front courtesy lamp sockets mount directly into the sheet metal of the dash or is there a bracket that clips into the dash first? The holes seems larger than the sockets and I see there are two slots on either side. Both lamps were hanging when I got the car.

 

The sockets push down from the topside into the mounting holes so that only the bulb itself is exposed from the bottom side. There are little prongs on the socket that snap into the mounting hole. There are no brackets used. Hope this helps.
