71 Cutlass Conv Motor Wiring

Hola Group, Trouble shooting power convertible top motor. I have a red and a yellow wire going to the top, but can't find these in my wiring diagrams? Is yellow the ground ? Or does the motor get 12v on both sides so red powers the top one way, the yellow powers the top the other way, and it grounds to the body.

Thanks....TO

I think the switch changes the power polarity depending upon which way the motor needs to run. One switch position puts +12V on one wire and grounds the other, then the opposite switch position swaps them.

Not sure what year your car is but if it's like the one in your picture it should be a large purple and black? wire from your top switch harness going to your convertible top motor harness. The top motor itself should have a red and green wire connected to the purple and black wire and then a black wire that is grounded to the body. The motor is grounded close to where it mounts and the switch directs power to either the purple(red) wire or the black(green)

wire depending on which way you want it to run.
