68 cutlass supreme Tranny kick down

Hi, I have a 68 cutlass with a 442 engine and tranny. I see the kick down switch on the trans but there is no wire there. On the gas pedal i see the switch with the pink and orange wire attached. Can someone please tell me where the wire to the trans comes from, I don't see it at all. I checked firewall and was looking for a black wire or a green wire as stated in other threads but no avail. Is the pink wire or orange wire able to be spliced to give me the correct signal? Thank you in advanced!

As shown in your Chassis Service Manual, the pink wire provides power to the orange wire when the kickdown switch is closed, the orange wire carries the power to the firewall connector, which connects to the black-with-orange-stripe wire that goes to the transmission kickdown solenoid.

Welcome to ClassicOlds.

Thank you Eric for your response. I need to pick up a manual. I do not see any blk w/stripe wire coming out of firewall. I have several bunches of wires coming out. Do you know if it would be grouped in one of those bunches. I searched for wiring diagrams and I do not see one that helps. I appreciate your time and welcome.

In the engine compartment from the firewall connector (there are two on the driver's side) one will haveurple, green, your resistance wire, your kickdown wire, blue, yellow, light blue, and black. The green and orange/black go to the tranny. Check my album, I have a good clean wiring chart for 68s.

My fat thumbs on my IPhone invented that one! We have to leave something to the imagination as we get older!
