Installing a WonderBar Radio in a 1968 Cutlass

I recently obtained a factory Wonderbar AM/FM radio to install in my 1968 Cutlass. The radio does work in both modes. The installation is giving me fits. Has anybody had experience with this installation and was successful. I have researched both the 68 and 69 assembly manuals and they do not reference the Wonderbar Radio. Also, there is no indication on the radio chassis as to a ground attachment as with the radios referenced in the assembly manuals. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

It should ground the same way as any other radio, chassis and the antenna shield wire. The speaker/s (-) also probably grounds to the car chassis.

That might be because the Wonderbar was never factory installed in the A-body cars, only in the full size cars.

Thanks Joe. You are correct. It was installed in B and C bodies and not A according to the assembly manual for the full size vehicles.

The heat sink (all those fins attached to the side of the radio) are on the passenger side for radios installed in B/C cars. The heat sink is on the driver side for A-body cars.

Olds never installed a Woderbar in the A-body cars. It is possible to retrofit one from a full size, but they were not factory.

To install a Wonderbar in a Cutlass, you must cut or bend the brace between the radio and the glove box.
