I've occasionally seen used R71 batteries, but they are rare. R71 was only used in 1971 models equipped with the 455 or optioned with the heavy duty battery. In the Toro, it was used for only part of 1971, being replaced by the R91 side terminal.
Some Delco batteries are reproduced with a modern AGM (no gassing, no corrosive vapors, far higher CCA) inside a reproduction shell.
Unfortunately for you, the R71 is not reproduced. The R71S is reproduced. It is the same size and appearance as an R71, except it says R71S in small raised letters on the sidewall.
If that doesn't bother you, you can get an R71S (eventually) from Battery Central Mall for less than you would probably pay for an original, worn-out, display-only R71.
