Correct Battery - 72 442?

My 1972 442 has the bigger engine (VIN code U) and it appears to have had a top post battery originally based on the battery cables in the car (which are original). My understanding is that in 72, some came with top post and some came with side post batteries. Since mine appears to be a top post, what is the correct Delco battery that came with it?

Don't know if this will help but check out the bottom right battery on this YearOne page:

In 71 the 455s came with top posts and had the large battery tray and took an R71 battery. 350s took the R59. I would presume the 72 top post would take the same battery. When they switched to side posts the large battery number changed to R91. The 350 battery was R89. I was unaware some 72s still had side posts. In 71 the original cables were different styles. The negative cable was a bolt down right angled type, while the positive cable was a spring ring type. You could check battery cable styles in Fusick's catalog and compare to your cables.

You guys are aware that Doc sunk his teeth into a 4½ year old question, right?

Well that just goes to prove that we'll keep some of our members in suspense for a longer time than they want. I guess Charles got kind of tired of waiting. His last activity on this site was April 11, 2010.... You can't ignore car guys like you do wimmen and hope for the right response

Trunk

Whom do you think will be happier after an hour in the trunk of your Olds, your black labrador or the wife?

It should be an R91 side post battery. See pic.
