70 convertible courtesy lights
70 convertible courtesy lights
I think I may have asked this a while back, haven't been on in a while. The other night I noticed when I open my door only the front courtesy lights go on. The back seat lights only turn on when I rotate the light switch all the way. When I do this the front and back courtesy lights are on. Wouldn't the back seat lights located near your knee go on when the door opens. Can anyone else with a convertible confirm how these should work. Thanks
+1. As far as I know, all of the A-body convertible courtesy lights do this.
That's the reason for the unusual 2-pin light bulbs - they allow the circuit to be completed by either the headlight switch or the door switches, but not the map light.
Has someone retrofitted the rear sockets and bulbs?

I don't believe so but I'll check today to see what bulbs and sockets I have. I wouldn't be surprised if something is wired wrong as long as I have owned this car I'm still finding irregularities along with still fixing the horrible resto the shop did 7 year ago.
My electric seat back releases have never worked either - will give be a chance to look into those as well.

Those seat back releases are super rare, as you probably know. I think you have 2 door pin switches? I've seen these on Caddys & some Rivieras in the past & thought about grabbing some of the parts but didn't know what would be the same or not.
On A-bodies they were able to be ordered only if you had electric door looks. You are correct in that they came on many Toronado's, Riv's and Eldo's. Never seem them on the b-bodies but have seen one other set on a A-body - I think it was a Buick GS years ago. Yes i have two door pin switches. Only one wire goes to the mechanism in the seat back
