I'm still chasing down wire hook ups on my car. I have what looks like a pin sticking out behind A/C compressor, I have no extra wire connectors in my wire harness to plug into it! Is this the right compressor for a 70? if so where should this wire be coming from to plug onto pin? Thanks for the help.

 

 

Well I guess I have the wrong one, will it matter if not wired up ? will compressor still work ? anyone know? I have been fighting this car ever since I bought it. I don't think I will ever buy a basket case again . When I say basket case , car was in boxes and plastic buckets, parts mixed all over the mans garage, and nothing bagged or tagged. Some parts in the boxes where Olds, and some where Ford. I will see it through to the end !

 

 

Superheat switch pin. Some years use it, others don't. It's designed to blow a thermal limiter fuse should the system lose its Freon charge. If your car doesn't have the single pin connector in the wiring, don't worry about it. You just got a generic rebuild A6 compressor.

If you still have that 73 in your avatar, look at the compressor on that. You'll see the pin, wiring connector and thermal limiter fuse clipped to the compressor bracket.

 

You are right! I just thought they are different from 70 to 73 , and never looked at the one on the 73. thanks
