70-72 Power Trunk Button Installation Instructions
70-72 Power Trunk Button Installation Instructions
I Asked about this a thousand times so i thought i would do a writeup on my experiences.
I got an AWESOME power trunk setup from Eric (Jensenracing), it was from a w-30 car apparently. I'm hoping it'll make my car go faster.
Step1: Open your glovebox and locate the dimple on the lower left hand side (right above a hole).
Step2: Go to the store and buy a step drill (hole needs to be 3/4''), or use a regular drill bit if you have one.
Step3: Loosen the bracket that holds the glovebox up.

Step4: Break out your step drill bit and start drilling, heck, put a bit of oil down to make a sweet smokey smell

Step5: Pull the wires out of the hole that you installed under your carpet so you dont have to reach behind the glovebox awkwardly

Step6: Once you've reached 0.75'', the button will push in perfectly.

I installed one a couple months ago I got from Scott (oldspackrat). Unfortunately it wasn't from a W-30 so I got no performance benefit from installing it
. I drilled the hole and looked at the switch for about 20 minutes and wondered, how the hell am I going to get this in there? There's a funky designed holder on the back. So I lined up the switch with the hole and pressed it in, click
, it went right in! Well that was melodramatic!
The hardest part maybe was fishing the wire through the trunk lid for the solenoid.

I know right, I totally was freaking out on how to get the button in there
actually it was from a 1970 w-30, (that's why the button is chrome and not black) but i actually like the look better.
