70 455 Supreme Rewire

Hello guys,

I've started the long process of rewiring my SX during the restoration after nearly having a Car-B-Q trying to get it to start. I'll explain that later...
I bought a Painless 23 circuit kit that is supposed to work with the car, and for the most part it has. It's a universal kit, and in hindsight I should have just got something that was made specifically for the car. There are some things still I've yet to understand so that's why I'm here.
The original service manual is on order, so in the time being I've been rely off the old harness, and a diagram someone posted on the forms. It's all starting in the engine bay, with 4 more wires (maybe more) to go, it's almost done. All the questions will go along with a photo so it makes a little more sense. The goal is a factory look.

So here is question one - Circled is the original horn relay / power take off. This kit incorporates the horn relay into the fuse block and doesn't show anything about the power take off. The kit doesn't mention anything about a key buzzer either. From factory I believe it was a pink wire with a black stripe. How do I wire that in? I've left alone the renaming wire to finish the alternator (main power wire) for this very reason. The car came with an underhood light, which I believe gets connected to the one of the prongs on relay as well.

This right here I believe is a junction box? Part of the AC harness was connected to it, part of the main harness too. I need to know what needs to go to it? Does it need power off the main harness? I guess the better question is: What does this do?

One more box to try and identify: This is unrelated to the Painless portion of the rewire. This right here, I believe to be a relay for the AC? But I believe too it could be a door buzzer as well?

Now getting down to the transmission. The Th400 has two wires running off it that look like they've seen better days. What are they for? My guess is one is part of the TCS switch and one for the electronic kick down?

Following that up, the kick down switch is on the other side of the firewall... The kit gives one wire for the TH400. On the engine side of the firewall.

Here is how it's laid out in the book

The wire could be used for an electric choke, but I'm going to bypass that.

This is my first rewire, this has been a huge learning curve.

Anything helps,

Scully

I’d be very surprised if the Painless kit incorporates the key warning buzzer. You may need to add the wire from the steering column to the original horn relay, or you could make your own buzzer if it’s something you just have to have.

I modified a chime module from a G body car. I wanted the headlight warning. It was a pretty easy modification.

The relay on the passenger fender is the A/C compressor relay. Once again I’d be surprised if the painless kit includes heat or A/C function other than a wire to supply power. Your probably going to have to use most of your original A/C harness, or get a reproduction or good used.

The kickdown solenoid is originally powered by the gauges fuse (I think). One wire on the kickdown switch is an ignition power source, the other is power out to the transmission solenoid (on a orange wire). If the painless kit didn’t include provisions, your going to have to add the wires.

Hopefully you still have the old fuse box and harness. You can remove the wires from the original harness if needed. Or you can get the proper series 56 terminals from Napa or Painless.
