Help needed with power window wiring 69 442
This pic was taken near the headlight switch. It shows what I think is the PW relay and the power feed (orange w/black). Can somebody please confirm this and also tell me where the power feed plugs into. I am reusing the old PW harness which was never removed.
Thanks very much,
Rob

I'm sure not an electrical guru but I'll give it a shot.
The orange/black power feed wire plugs into the relay, the other end should go through the firewall to a 40 amp circuit breaker then on to the horn relay main power lug. Some cars had a circuit breaker that plugged into the fuse panel and the wire plugged into a terminal next to it but I don't think '69 Oldsmobiles did, doesn't really matter.
There should be two more lugs on the relay, one for the wire to a switched hot to energize the relay, usually plugged into one of the accessory terminals on the fuse panel, pink or brown IIRC. The other one goes to the main power window switch and is only hot when the relay is energized, should be red/white.

Im still a liittle confused but, there should be 2 power wires? One switched (either brown or pink) and one hot, which is the orange that goes to the horn relay terminal. There is a short brown plug hanging near fuse box.

Hi Rob, I don't have power windows in the 69 conv I'm working on but I will see if there is anything in the CSM on this wiring. It sounds like BlueVista has a good handle on this. The orange hot wire will run through the firewall and will connect to a circuit breaker that is bolted to the firewall just above the master cylinder area. I've attached a photo of the 69 conv I'm working on and you can see that wire and circuit breaker. But keep in mind, that orange wire you see in my photo is coming from the power top switch. So you will likely have 2 orange wires that connect to one side of the circuit breaker. The other terminal on the circuit breaker goes to the horn relay. The short brown wire you mention will connect to a hood light if you have one. If you need a better picture of the circuit breaker let me know.

Hi Brian, Is this the breaker your referring to, if it blows is it resetable? It looks like one terminal is copper, does that go to the horn relay? Then I can run both the top and windows through that one breaker. Also can I run other accessories through that breaker too. Sorry for so many questions I just want to be sure.
Thanks, Rob
Thanks, Rob
Hi Rob, it's been a long and busy day.
That's it. Yours is slightly different than mine but they may have had different vendors. Look it over closely as it should have a marking on it to show the amp rating. It should show 40A. The breaker will reset if it trips. According the the factory assembly manual, the wire that you show on that post on your breaker goes to the horn relay. The other 2 orange wires would go to the other terminal. I would not install any other accessories on this breaker as it's not the way the factory did it and it might overload it.
Did you get the parts I sent?
