I believe it is a 211 bulb.

I'm not 100 percent sure, but I believe the burnt opaque lense is fairly normal. I have a '68 442 and a '69 442 and both of the lenses in them have that burnt spot where it's closest to the bulb. I don't know of anyone that has or reproduces this item.

Well, if that's the case, I'll just carry on and drive with my scorched lens like a badge of honour! derek

I surmise that you are talking about the light over the radio, if you call it a 'map light' you will have a more favourable response in your seach to ward off the night...

I know what your talking about. Mine is burnt also, and I've had no joy finding a replacement. I'll try to get a pic and post it.

First, don't get your hopes up. Second, I think the map light you're looking for is the same one that fits the 70-72 cutlass. At least it sure looks like it to me from the pic you put in your thread. Take a look at the attached pic. The light is as you described for dimensions and wiring. If its what you need, you bet theres a whole lot of them out there. Used and New. I've seen these go on ebay new in box OEM NOS part for as little as 10 bucks. If you take it out of the dash does it look like the pic I just added?
Check it out and LMK>

I puchased one of those LED bulbs. It works, sorta.

It's off rotation 90deg but it sets in tight enough with tension that I think it will be ok.
I don't think it's bright enough. I'm gonna keep looking for a different solution but for now it works, and wont burn up the lens any more.

Lightbulb Night light

Thanks for that link I think map lights are going to become extinct now that everyone is using GPS...I saw one on a 1915 F**d at the Barrie cruise last Sat...I also see a lot of them on the 401 around Toronto...they are all driving around causing congestion just to see if the darn things work or they are deliberatly trying to get lost..
