1970 442 Y92 Courtesy Light Package

Hi,
My car is fitted with the abovementioned package but the trunk light, which is mounted to the underside of the trunk lid, doesn't look right.
I was wondering if someone could post a picture of the correct light assembly please?
Thanks, Richard

Post a pic of what you've got. Depending on whether your car is a HT or vert they are mounted differently. In 1970 the light is switched by a side mounted swing arm instead of a mercury switch.

Ok. My car is a HT. I will have to take a pic of the switch and learn how to post it here (I'm only new to this!). The light is mounted on the underside of the trunk lid and is mercury operated, but doesn't sit in the spot very well. I have seen the repro swing arm switches which mount near the hinge and thought maybe they were an accessory switch and the package one might be different. The Parts Manuals I have are very light (no pun intended!) on the subject. R

The switch for the HT 1970-72 looks like the one in my car. It's also a model 3687 (fastback coupe - Cutlass S)

To some of us that's obviously not correct. The thread will let you post after the picture, just hit the return key to drop the cursor down to the next line, or hit return a few times before you post the picture on one of the lower lines.

So, given this existing light is incorrect, any ideas what it is off? What was the purpose of the cut out in the underside of the trunk frame? Does an earlier model lamp fit there and if so what does it look like? (Just curious, I'm going to fit the correct lamp) Speaking of which, the repro lamps appear to be suplied/fastened with self tapper screws (but I do not have existing holes in the hinge brace mounting area?) whereas the one in the picture supplied by Allan appears to be held in place by a slide on clip? If this is the case I want to be authentic, so will be in the market for an original. Are they hard to source?
Thanks for everyone's assistance. These cars are very thing on the ground down here, so local knowledge is non existant! R

Slantflat, love the pic of your Shepherds. I've also had 2 over the years and miss them dearly. The best dog/companion EVER, no contest - and no one else's differing opinion counts!!!

The correct trunk lamp comes with two mounts. The triangular one with screws is for the vert. Take that off and don't use it. The remaining assembly simply clips to the trunk hinge bracket and the orange power lead clips to the back. Sorry, don't know what the one you have is from.

In previous years there was a round trunk light in about that location, which was activated by a mercury switch.

Thanks for everyone's help, especially Allan . I have sourced the correct light and now have to patiently wait its arrival!
Cheers, Richard
