‘68 Cutlass won’t start, then starts

Long story short, every 1st attempt at starting my ‘68 there’s one click & no start. Second attempt she fires right up. Cold start, hot start, doesn’t matter. I’m at a complete loss as to what the issue is but I know it’s only a matter of time before I get stranded somewhere. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

.60 over Olds 350 w/HEI, everything else stock under the hood.

Probably a connection dirty or loose. Check battery connections starter connection ground at block. If that isn't it maybe time for a solenoid, or starter rebuild.

^^^THIS. Verify all connections are tight and clean first (including battery terminals and ground wire to the block. Also, ensure that the purple wire start circuit has good connections including at the NSS and firewall connector. A voltage drop test while cranking is the best way to check this. Failing that, it's time for a solenoid.
