my right blinker indicator stopped working, but the the front and rear signals came on just didnt think they did. i replaced bulbs behind speedo but now both signal lights also speedo light out. do i have to reattach bezel for it to work because of the ground.also i noticed 1 of the 5 bulb housings is dark gray and the other 4 are light gray. does the darker 1 go back in the top center, didnt pay attention when i removed thank you
Try reversing the bulbs in their housing to see if flipping the contacts around gets them to light. The gauge cluster should be re-bolted to the dash to ground it but the actual cover bezel itself doesn't have to be reinstalled.
next if no better result and assuming your circuit board isn't suspect for being bad, try new bulbs and/or bulb housings
If I recall, the different color housings only delineated the bulbs being used in them (if anything at all) - i.e. 168 v. 194 bulbs. In practice I don't know that it makes a real difference which of them you use except for one supposedly being a little brighter than the other. I use all LED's in mine with the 194 designation.
I was just working on my Dash lights yesterday(72 Cutlass) the Speedometer bulb sockets are 4 gray and one black
the black one is for the High beam indicator
on the bulb socket make sure you slightly bend out the tabs so they make solid contact on the housing circuit board

The housing color doesn't really matter as far as the bulb lighting up, but as Schne442 pointed out, make sure the contacts on contacting the circuit board. I have seen some of the replacement ones out there not doing that.
