1970 Cutlass starting issues

I recently purchased a ‘70 cutlass post coupe that sat for a few years. It was started every few months to move it. It would start fine until I brought it home. Starter solenoid would click but not turn over. I figured something was draining the battery so I reinstalled the door jamb switches for the dome light. Dome light came on & a few courtesy lights under the dash. Later I went to start car & battery was dead. No gauge lights at all. Charged battery & battery light domes on but no solenoid noise or dome light. Any suggestions?

Try jumping it with another car. Look for loose/dirty connections at the battery. Do the headlights work? If yes leave them on and turn the key to crank. Do the headlights change, go dim, go out?

Good luck!!!

sounds like the battery may be bad. Also if you get it running, check the voltage across the battery.

Update. Replaced both battery terminals as I noticed positive cable looked corroded & I had 12.7 volts at the battery so I figured it wasn’t getting good contact.

That will do it. A small amount of corrosion will cause a no start and charging issues.
