1966 Dynamic 88 Coil Resistance wire melted

Hi

The Pink resistance wire supplying power to the coil is melted and corroded.
Can I just replace it with heavier gauge normal wire and a ballast resistor?

Thanks
Phil.

If you want to keep it on points you may have no other option. I don't know of a source for the resistance wire though I'm sure some of the repop wiring vendors have it.

I'd look into a Pertronix Ignitor II or III electronic conversion. Those will run fine on full 12VDC and fit under the existing points distributor cap. My experience is they'll tolerate a little more base timing too, which will improve performance and fuel economy.

You can do that or see if any members have a wire they can part with.
