1957 Dash lights mystery

Good morning, my intention is to get all the original function of my '57 88 in working order... My dash lights do not work (instrument cluster and all other dash lights). Last night I removed the main light switch and the 3 amp fuse that protects the rheostat/dash lights circuit. I continuity tested the fuse and it seemed fine (not sure I can trust the result). I put things back together and no change. I have a Sun Pro 3 gauge cluster and the lights for it turn on with the main light switch, though they do not dim with the rheostat - I am not sure if it is wired correctly or if the main dash light circuitry was disturbed when the Sun Pro cluster was wired. I am thinking that if the light switch causes the Sun Pro lights to come on then the 3 AMP fuse is OK and I need to look elsewhere. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, David
