Exclamation 1957 dash cluster

electric issue or bad starter switch.. Im trying to figure out how this wire circuit works.
I did continuity test on the switch and it dose not make contact to any other post or ground .
I bought a new temp sender.. my cold and hot lights where working before started re wiring the engine bay.

That wire is what causes the hot light to illuminate when the key is in the start position as a test to show that the bulb is working. Circuit continuity only occurs when the key is in the crank position.

The one that shows continuity I would assume to be the cold lamp.
