Is there a heavier front sway bar for a 1965 Dynamic 88 vert? (A lot of weight out front with that BB running on radials.) If so, who has one?

 

I have a 1968 98 convertible and switched the wheels from 14" to 15 x 7 from a late 80's police car. Tires are now 225/70-15 and the car drives much nicer. Tire sidewall rubs a bit on the frame when turning very sharp but everything else is fine.

 

Try maximizing your current bar by replacing both the bar-to-frame bracket bushings and the end link bushings with polyurethane. That will stiffen up the stock sway bar quite a bit. Are you still running the original springs? Worn/soft factory springs help the ride but hurt handling. Consider replacing front springs with ones of similar dimensions but higher spring rate. Also, if you haven't already added good gas-charged shocks, do that too.

I've got an 1 1/8" bar up front and a 1" bar on the rear both from P-S-T on my '73 88, they list the same rear bar for your '65.... their mounting system is lame as it all tweaked in the first hundred miles. I've included a few pics of what fixed it --- Now I feel like i'm driving a 4300lb Honda car -- what a difference -- also have 1" trim coil springs alround from Coil Spring Specialties, KYB Gas adjust up front and Monroe Sensatrack load handling shocks on the rear... new control arm bushings alround, ball joints etc.. complete the rebuilt suspension.... oh what a feeling!

I've seen this set up on some Chevy forums... Not easy to find an original GM set up....

 

I should have known that a couple grade 8 bolts and spacers would not keep the bar in place on a B-body olds.... pull it back apart, box the lower arms and incorparate the mounting plates by welding them in, left the bolts in welded and ground down... all good now.... improvise, adapt and overcome....
