I would like to introduce, Dexy the Delta

Yes I got another one.

Stats:
1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal Brougham 2 door (only 15,000+ made in 2 door from 1978-1985)
307 Oldsmobile engine with a 4 barrel Quadrajet
121,520 miles (had 120,000 when I bought it)
engine has been replaced
2.73 open rear
25 gallon fuel tank
real world MPG around 16 MPG
1/4 mile avg 18.50 @ 77.25 MPH

I Replaced:
Rear bumper (junkyard)
rear shocks
Fuel Filter

Upgrades:
1988 Caprice rear deck with CHMSL
3 inch tach
Oldsmobile ralley pack gauges (given to me at sale)
Factory cassette deck (had crappy aftermarket CD deck)
Analog clock (replaced non working drum clock)
All interior bulbs replaced with SilverStars
Oldsmobile mud flaps (keeps about 95% of rubber off the car's body )

Plans:
255/60/15 rear tires on S-10 wheels (still will be using wire wheels covers for sleeper look)
Eibach lowering springs
Tint
Primer (my buddy and I are doing this)
1967 Oldsmobile 330 ci engine with 10.25:1 compression
Sticking with a 200R4 transmission
Shorty Headers
X pipe exhaust
Flowmaster Super 44's or glass paks (IDK yet)

BEAUTY!

Just so you know, there are 15,002 2 doors in 1985 because it was the last year.

1980-84 there were a lot more. Probably over 50,000 per year.

Very elegant and classy looking car, with a powerhouse thundering 307!! I see the check engine light works!

You have a gorgeous looking car. Read your plans. Primer?? You planning to change the color or repair some rust/body issues not in the photos?

You should send some of those pics in to BigJerr for his 2012 Calendar!

No color change, but there are a few rust spots that need to be taken care of. After primer, it will be repainted the factory color, or as close to it as I can get. Midnight blue Metalic, (thus the name Dexy )

You have been seriously misled. Heck, the years you quote (1978-1985) were some of the largest production in Oldsmobile history. No way there were only 15,000 2-door Delta 88's built over that time span.

In 1985 alone, there were 15,002 Delta 88 Royale (note the "e" -- you do not have a "Royal"--Dodge made a Royal--you have a Royale) 2-doors made and 31,891 Delta 88 Royale Brougham 2-doors made. I bet that first number, 15,002, is where you're getting your number. It doesn't apply to your car though. It's only the Royales, not the Royale Broughams.

In 1984, the corresponding numbers 23,387 and 41,913.

Over that 8 model-year time span, in doing a quick add-up of the numbers, over 430,000 2-door Delta 88's of all flavors (Delta 88, Delta 88 Royale, Delta 88 Royale Brougham) were made. Delta 88 and Delta 88 Royale were available for that entire time span. The Brougham version wasn't added until 1980.

You do have a nice car, though, even though you don't know how to spell it or how many were made.

Meh, I just got excited about finally posting this up

My divorce was final according the the laws in PA on Wednesday and I didn't want any pics posted up, just in case.

I thought I had a rare model. I've only seen 4 2 doors that I can remember other than the 2 I've owned. I still like the 2 door better than the 4

On a more positive note: That means you have a lot of spare parts cars in the boneyard if you need them. Think about what could go wrong and snap up those parts before the crusher eats them.

Exactly. There's just enough parts to not make your life hell searching for something that you need, and not TOO many like the G body line. They made 100k per year of those G platform cars I'd venture to bet.

They're EVERYWHERE.

That is a very nice car. I like your plans for it, should make a nice sleeper.

Some of your plans sound familiar. I was going to put a 330 in my Delta as well, but the plans changed once I got the Cutlass.

Looks like a nice find. I really don't know those cars very well, and never saw the rally pac gauges in them. Was that a rare option? Good luck with your new toy!

Yes the ralley pack was only ava for a few years. They were more common in the the 98 and the Diesal Deltas. My ralley gauges actually have a diesal badge on it.

Driving around today I saw another Delta 88, at least an 84, same color, and we waved at each other, sharing that Oldsmobile love

Nothing wrong with 4 door, but other than the 2 2 doors I owned, I've only seen 6 in my lifetime

Careful with that statement...

Rallye Packs were avail 77-85. Through-out the lines. Just out of curiosity, where is the "Diesel" identifier? I have a bunch of rallye packs in my parts box, of course, not all working or presentable.

They also offered an "economizer" gauge. It was basically a vacuum gauge that told you how economical your driving is.

Rare, no... Uncommon, yes.

Either way, very cool option.

BTW... Nice 2 Dr. I'm partial to the 77-79's, but definitely have a love affair with that color blue. I'm slowly working on replacing all the interior in my 78 to the same interior color you are sporting on yours.

I also tossed a tach on mine, but attached it to the steering column. Eventually, I'll take that off and replace it with a shift light hidden in the A/C vent like my Mustang.
