Those wheels came stock on 71 and 72 B bodies. They are SS IVs.

 

Beautiful car, and I love it!

I have always thought that the '71 Royale convertible or coupe was the nicest of all the '71 - '76 Delta 88 cars. It was the purest version of the new-for-'71 body style.

 

know wheels are from i have three sets. but all of the trim rings have are curbed or dented.

 

the trim rings in the pictures are not the factory ones but look good!!!!!!

 

They fooled me.

 

Don't know, they came with the car, the person I bought it from said the same thing.... they were on when he bought the car. I thought/think they were original also.

the factory trim rims look like cutlass tirm rings as far a profile. they atacht on the outside of the rim. will post pictures but will take awhile on
vaction. i was told by somebody that chevy truck late model trim ring would work, but was never given part no. or appucation.

 

88-92 Chevy pickup trim rings. You see a lot of SSIV with them as they fit right into the recess and fit better than anything except the correct ones.

I've also used the narrow clip-on trim rings from 77-79 Ford Turbine Polycasts which are common on Thunderbird/Cougar. These leave an opening that depending on quality of the Polycast mold can be unsightly.

I've managed to assemble two decent spare sets of correct SSIV/N82 trim rings. I need two more sets to cover all my SSIV and N82 wheels.

Similar, but way different at the inside edge. The slanted surface goes perpendicular to the wheel at the inside edge to clear the moulded Polycast.

 

Thats a GORGEOUS 88!!

You're right, as you can see by my "joined" date I'm fairly new and have learned so much in just a short time, thanks to all. If I should ever ding one of my rings I know how to get a replacement.

Hello, nice to see another 71 Royale convertible! I dragged mine off a hill in Pa. about 7 years go. It's the best handling of my "bigger" cars. I think they made 2883# of them. Later, Ken

 

Very nice car. I will use your photos as a reference. I just acquired a '71 Convertible with the same wheels about 3 months ago. It is in a million pieces. I hope it is worth putting back together. It appears to have a lot of factory options: ssIV wheels, posi rear end, a/c, power seats and windows.

Anyway, you have a nice car. I hope you stick around so I can ask you questions while I am reassembling.

 

Why wouldn't it be worth assembling? If you hope to assemble the car, paint it, and sell if for alot of money then you will be disappointed. Just enjoy it for what it is.

 

Sorry, that came off wrong. I am dying to get it back together so I can drive it around. It just looks like a daunting task. I love big Oldsmobiles. I also have a two door coupe '72 88 that I was going to restore till I found the convertible. A lot less body work on the convertible.

Now I have to go find some 88-92 truck trim rings. Thanks again for the great pictures they motivate me.

 

One has to love these "big Girls" to sink time and money into them because most Olds guys are into 442 & Cutlass's. I call my cars my "Money-pits." I actually have 2 Cutlass' but they are buried in one of my buildings. I like the bigger Olds because there different. I joke at the Miller meet, "oh look, another A-body." Keep the 71 Delta convertible they are nice riding and handling cars. Later, Ken
