The 1985 D88 that I bought for my wife finally showed up today. She's had a similar 1985 D88 for three years now and it needed paint. I got this one for about the cost of a quality paint job on the other one. This car was on ebay for a while with a high BIN and finally got listed with no reserve. That's when I bought it. The car was in Las Vegas and had been owned by a family that apparently owns one of the hotel-casinos. The son finally bought dad a new BMW and the Olds had to go. The car has a totally custom leather interior and I suspect they spent more on hides than I did on the car. It's actually in really nice shape and fully loaded. Seems to run fine - at least around the office parking lot. I'll trailer it home and check it out before turning her loose with it. The old car will become the winter driver and car she carries the dogs in.
The new one has a couple of issues. The inside rear view mirror is missing (not uncommon and no big deal - I have two parts cars). There's an aftermarket alarm and remote lock system but it doesn't seem to be working yet. And the spare tire and jack is missing. I finally figured out that with it gone, there's more room for bodies in the trunk.
I'll post more photos once I clean it up. The car is really dirty after being carried from Vegas, and that custom RX7 above it was piddling oil on the hood and windshield. The street rod in front of the car wasn't too shabby, either.

About 95K. Spent it's whole life in Nevada up to now. It has been repainted and there are a few subtle custom touches. Note that all exterior emblems are gone. The 1980s Olds crest on the trunk lock cover has been replaced by an older rocket version (thank you!). Of course, the interior is all custom - upholstery and carpet. The steering wheel appears to have had the usual cracks filled and been painted. There's an aftermarket alarm and remote locking system, but I haven't figured out how it works yet. The remotes may need batteries. I'm not sure I want an alarm, but the remote lock would be nice. Tires are oversize 235/75-15s and really fill the wheel wells. I prefer the flat covers to the wire ones on our outer 1985 D88.
The car seems to have been well cared for. I see new sway bar links and shocks, for example. This weekend I'll check it all out and change all the fluids.
Very nice, I'm sure your wife will love it. The interior is amazing. I hope you and the wife have good luck with it for many years to come . Sounds like your spoiling her already with new fluids.

Love the leather interior and color on the car.cleaned up nice after being the caboose on the trailer.
Sure there are a few more surprises on it being how custom some of the touches are on the car. Clean and rust free hard to find not beat into the ground. Very good find.
I don't know why more cars didn't come with those wheel covers, our 81 Delta had them, about the only one I remember seeing them on. Only problem with those covers is that plastic edge breaks out, probably the gravel roads our car drove on. Great interior and nice Delta all around.

I agree. They look a little like Moon disks. I'm not sure what plastic you're talking about, however. These are all metal, except for the center emblem.
Must be a really nice car, and Dad must have really enjoyed it, especially considering the family owned a casino and probably could have had any car they wanted.
Is the Eighty-Eight mechanically original? I'm very weary of aftermarket alarms and remotes locks, as my in-laws had purchased a used van with them and they were nothing but headaches. Since they were spliced into the OEM wiring, no one would guarantee that there would be no electrical problems if removed.
I'm sure the alarm and remote locks installed in the Eighty-Eight are of better quality and will function as intended. I agree, the interior must have cost a small fortune to be reupholstered in leather. Is it fine Corinthian leather? lol
