New to me Daily Driver (non Olds)

I'm driving this as my summer car. It's a boat!

Nice, I had a 72 as a daily driver for around 7 years. The 500 in mine was a very smooth running engine.

That thing is clean! My first expressway drive was in my Dads 71 ELDO convert, all white exterior with red interior. He let me drive it with my drivers permit. Think the engine was a 501 cube and it sounded powerful. Nice find it must have been in a garage for a long time. Has it low miles?

The 71 and 72 Eldo's were practically identical. Both had the 500. All the Caddy engines that were based off the 472 were very good engines, though the HP did drop through the 70's smog era.

Sean, it's a repaint out of Florida. It is nice but the camera treated it well. I think the car has 170hp with the 500ci. LOL! I got into it at the right price so I won't lose on the deal when I sell it.
It had a leak at the fuel pump when I got it. Didn't know it and man, that first tank of gas went fast! After I fixed the leak the guzzling is kept to a minimum.

Sweet.

We need some pix &/or vids from behind the helm that clearly show that bodacious hood.

Tell me, whenever you take that for a spin .........

How do you choose what duds to wear ?.

Do you flip a coin ......

Heads - Big Enos ?.

Or tails - Huggy Bear ?.

This was my driver a few years ago until I could no longer stand the lack of power and gas mileage:

I just couldn't live with a 500 c.i. engine that couldn't maintain speed on a slight grade on the interstate.
But, it was one of the most comfortable and beautiful cars I've owned.

My 72 could really get up and go, though it was down from the peak of 1970. The mid to late 70's seem to be the dark years for power across the board. though the 500/472 are all great platforms to build a real powerhouse. I loved driving my 71 CDV and my 72 Eldo. Nice vehicles for harassing Prius drivers with.

I saw an Eldorado from this era on the road not too long ago, they look so much bigger in person than the pics give them credit for.

So about a month ago I woofed the trans in the Caddy. It just so happened my friend had a complete engine and transmission sitting on a shelf. He thought it might come in handy some day. It did. The motor and trans combo has 22k on it. We took the intake off to reseal it and the valley looks clean as a whistle. I need to restore the air cleaner and it will look really great. Very happy!
