'64 88 supposed to be police

Was told this 88 was a factory 4 speed , two door police cruiser . Any knowledge on '60s police vehicles . Did they make something like this ?

You need to specify which model it is for starters.

And then what engine? Cuz if it's a 394, I'd say no.

From what I know, the 4-speed was only available on cars with the 330, which would mean the Jetstar 88, I think. And I think early police docs don't include the 4-speed, but when it comes to fleet orders, I think a lot of interesting things were built.

I know little about these cars and don't fancy myself as an expert, so please seek out other opinions as well.

While Oldsmobile did have some little advertised options:

B-01: Police Apprehender - City Cruiser

B-07: Police Apprehender - Highway Patrol

J-56: Heavy Duty Brakes (Police Usage)

L-76;L-77: High Compression V-8 Performance engine (For B-01 or B-07)

Y-75: Heavy Duty 15" Wheels, Hubs & Drums (With B-01, B-07)

and other better known options which could relate to police usage, I remain a bit ignorant of the specifics.
The last time I saw an Oldsmobile police car was on Highway Patrol when the fast talking, fast walking Dan Mathews (Broderick Crawford) seemed to usually drive off to pursue the bad guys in either a 1955 Buick or a 1954 Oldsmobile. In those days I thought it was CHP, but I suppose it was actually Hollywood
Patrol.

Ozzie:

Not too many people know Broderick Crawford actually drove a 54 Olds. I think I remember reading they actually leased those cars from the CHP. I loved that show.

10-4. Over and out.

'54 CHP car

Here is a picture of the '54 Olds Car used in Broderick Crawford series. I may have to try and find a video of that show. Larry
