whats up with the convertible scissors ...

I started on my 73 delta 88 convert . I have it somewhat stripped to start jambs and floors and trunk for color change .. i keep playing with the convert top trying to get it to somewhat open and close on its own.. it is out of adjustment and needs new top. it binds creaks groans and in general seems way too finicky .. should i expect anything better? it seems the rails and frames are loose and sloppy but i dont know what to judge it against ..

No, the frame joints shouldn't be that sloppy - you need a new set of bushings.
One of the large convertible top companies sells a full set for about $60.

Here are three links to more information on this board:

thanks Eric i will start with that.. i believe one issue is that the top was left down too long also and it seems to have shrunk. when up i can latch it but the alignment pins fall short by almost an inch

I don't know about others but mine is a bitch to close in cold weather, Seems the left side will reach the pin but the right comes about 1/2 inch short, summer time no problem.....Tedd
