Starfire Interior Q

Take a look at this pic from a 66 Starfire. This is not factory seat covering, is it?

I wonder how many tablecloths it took to make that?

Despite the oh-so-lovely upholstery, the seats are definitely 1966 style with the optional RPO A81 headrests. Steering wheel is also correct for the optional Tilt-and-Tele column for 1966.

Saw that car also to be auctioned Saturday..... Note the 66 Starfire uses major potmetal trim pieces and is a difficult car to restore if those are pitted.

Mine was originally Autumn Bronze with that red interior. It was too red for me. At rescue time the poor worn out seats were covered in sheepskin from the 80’s which were nothing like clean. Foul. Straight to the garbage.

Lots of the ‘66 Starfire promo materials show that red interior. That probably gave the installation percentage a bump.

My then fiancé (now wife of 20 years) & I went through the ‘66 paint & interiors dealer book and decided the Parchment interior looked better. Olds was pitching Parchment Pearl in ‘66, but we thought the more common non-pearl Parchment looked better. And it’s been that way since. Clean period look, only downside is it shows dirt.

cheers
