Side Mirror

Was this the side Mirror that was used on all 65 Oldsmobiles?

I wanted to replace mine, but the one on my 65 jetstar 88 looks different.

Mine looks more like this:

The first mirror looks like one in the Fusick catalog. The second does not look like mine...... A lot of people back in the day would NOT get the factory option and would get some from Western Auto or Sears. My mirrors do not have the "ribbing as shown in the first picture.

I don't know if mine were factory installed or added. I'll post a picture of mine tomorrow, and if I can get hold of the original owner, I'll find out if they were factory installed. I had a Ninety-Eight in 1965 and of course they came on the car. The only option was the automatic headlight dimmer.

I don't think an outside mirror for this car gets judged at a show.

Good Luck,

The first mirror pictured, with the circular pattern on the back is indeed correct for post 1962 era full-sized Olsdmobiles.

This is the pair I have on Blue Belle.

However, Dave Yaros is CORRECT on the mirror with the embossed circles as being the original mirrors.

I talked to the original owner of my car and he told me that Blue Belle originally had only a driver's side mirror. After he had it for about 20 or so years (car was in storage for 7 or 8 years - has 56,000 miles on her) he decided he wanted a passenger side mirror! He could not get a matching mirror so he got 2 new ones!

Fusick has the mirrors that are the right ones. I think they are about $75 each. If your car is a driver, get some round mirrors for $20!

Let us know what you decide to do...
