Charlie, the label across the picture of the tank says Auto City Classic. Are they the glass people ?

Yes, and they also sell gas tanks and disc brake kits and aluminum radiators.

This is great news for '61 thru '64 FSC owners with bad tanks.
I figured eventually that someone would pull the trigger on this project.
I wonder what the quality is like?

Yes, excellent. And about time. Half the 61-4 owners I know need a new fuel tank.

Comparing the new tank to the diagrams in the 64 CSM, looks like they nailed it. The new tank has the fuel return line nipple which would have to be capped on a car that doesn't have it; no biggie. Looks like the filler neck will have to be cut from the old tank and spliced to the new tank using the supplied rubber hose.

Thank you Joe P. I'll have to take a drive out of my way to my land up north during the week days. I think a tour of the place could be interesting. .

I ordered one of the 61-64 tanks a couple days ago. Should be here this week. I'll let y'all know how it looks.

AC did say you have to transplant your existing filler neck to the new tank. A chain pipe cutter should make quick work of that.

If I can ditch the one on the green 64 Starfire for one that hasn't been sealed and covered with varnish it'll be a good start.

Just seeing how the tank install went.

Haven't installed it yet but it matches the factory tank well. You'll have to cut the filler neck off the existing tank and transfer it to the new tank and ACC furnishes the rubber hose to couple it.

There's slight difference in the vent piping to put it on a 61 or 62.

Fuel tank

So what was the outcome on this ? And do yall think it will work on a 64 starfire ? I have no problem with fabrication , just want a good starting point.

It's as close as you'll get short of finding an NOS or excellent used tank. ACC now has the sending unit, straps, and pads to go with this tank. Since I have two 64 Starfires I'm thinking about getting a second one.

If you haven't already purchased it, strongly suggest buying the 5 volume set of 1964 factory shop manuals. You'll need them.
