Nice work! Looks like you're getting the loose ends buttoned up and will have an excellent, reliable driver on your hands.

Ok , some other things to check, the fuel filter, since it sat for quite some time.
the fuel may have become gummy.

Also the carburetor may have become plugged when you began driving it again. The timing belt is unlikely because that effect more the way that it fires less about how fast. Teh catalytic converter could be it, and if it has failed it will possibly smell like rotten eggs.

also the transmission may need to be flushed, the gears could somewhat stuck.

Hope this helps,

Hey everyone! I will be storing my Olds in a friends pull barn in a couple weekends. I need to find a car cover, where should I start looking? I plan on putting some fuel stabilizer in the tank and airing up the tires a little more. Do you guys have any other recommendations?

Car Covers and storage

You may want to take it and have some other special additives added. Change out the anti freeze and mix ethanol into the tank to keep it from freezing. Especially in your area.
Also in a barn you may want to put some moth ***** or some other item to keep critters out of it (meeces) and such. Not very pleasant but it can help, and check on it every few weeks to get it started and such.

Fianlly try something like car covers direct.

Best of Luck

You sure that is not a 455? Wasn't the engine color blue for 455s?

All GM engines, except Chebby, were blue in 1976. I think the "C" Division went blue the following year.

matt,
if you look at the length of the bypass hose from water pump to thermostat housing pipe it's too short to be a big block, the hose for a 455 is quite a bit longer even by eye,jc
