Just bought a show condition 64 starfire

I didn't know if I needed to start a new thread to get approved to use your site. I was hoping to find a slim jim flywheel through your parts for sale. I'm in Iraq and plan on driving my "new" car at the end of may on my vacation and I was hoping to have a shop transplant a 700r4 by then (thus the flywheel). For those that are just reading: here is my story from another noob post.

Hi, and thanks. I'm from Sacramento, CA. I'm working as a contract in Iraq right now. I work on the International MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles. For pictures just google. Anyhow, on ebay I came across a '64 Starfire where EVERYTHING on the car has been restored. White Corinthian Leather, all the power locks/windows work, 20k paint job, rebuilt motor and trans, etc. He even let me listen to the car over the phone. My uncle test drove the car and both he and my aunt couldn't stop smiling. I paid $15k for it. He says he's spent 100k putting it together (a lot of that is probably paid labor, I don't think he did it all himself). The poor guy was court ordered to sell it because of a very very nasty divorce. I really feel for him, but I was in the right place at the right time. The only plans I'm going to make on the car is disc brakes, add a 700r4 (if I can find a junk slim jim flywheel), maybe have the stock carb rebuilt (it has and Edlebrock), possibly cam it up (or not....), and I've eyeballed the aluminum dual carb intake, though that may be too much. It all depends on how I like whats on there already. As for pictures...I've never posted pictures on a BB before so if I can figure it out...I will.

Found a flywheel

Ok well I did find a flywheel for a good price on another parts website. I won't mention it here as I don't want to be flagged as a spammer. But if you're interested, contact me and I will tell you the name of the site.

I look forward to being a part of this site even though with my car already built, probably won't need to search for answers much.

You can bring two very important things to this forum: A willing attitude and a restored car that can be used as a reference. Lot of people have question about "How is the right way for this to look?", since over the years many cars have been modified or field-improvised to just make them work. When someone has a question about how should it really work you will be able to offer a photo that will not only help them but many, many others.

Welcome. And keep your head down.

Yes thats the one

Yes it's blue with white interior. Right now I'm in the process of getting a 700r4 case modified to going in it. I'm keeping all the stock parts as is. I really want the overdrive for overall noise comfort, and the better mpg will be nice.

btw, anyone know what the mpg of the stock engine/trans/ect...? Just curious.

As for showing people pictures, etc,,, that should be no problem. I can see that being handy with stuff like electric windows, locks, dash internals...though I really wouldn't be excited about taking all that apart.

Thank you for your service soldier! You deserve to get a good deal like that!

To clarify, you are looking for a flexplate, not a flywheel? As you'll still be going from an automatic to an automatic?
