info convertible top
hi folks, here I am again.. I had a problem of a big leak of water into the trunk when rain or just when I wash the car, but I think I have resolved the problem,( the gutter into the trunk was placed uncorrectly, so the water instead to drop into the gutter and drain from the side pipes ), but what I want to know is if is correct that the top is in direct contact with the steel of the body or if it would have a sort of soft strip all around the inside of the body to protect the top? This is my first convertible car and I have not informations about. Body worker suggested to seal a thin velvet strip inside the body but I am not sure that it could be a good solution, because the water instead to drop into the gutter could stagnate between the top and the body and damage the surrounding chrome trim. some of you have an answer for me???
nope, you could use tape ore something.
but folowing the fisher body service manual it does not seal or protect anything.
i replaced my top with one from keeautotop and they give me great service.
Also i do bought me a body and chassis manual that explains how to corectly fit the top.
And adjust it propperly.

Hello guy, thank you I will do nothing for the moment. the problem was in the gutter bad positioned in the trunk, so the rain instead to drop in the gutter dropped into the trunk, now that I have adjusted the gutter position everything work as it should. Does your car fueled by gasoline or as every car I have seen in Holland has a LPG system?
They sell lpg over here, but i running normal 95 octane or vpower.
They stop selling 98 ron more and more and replacing them with mixed blends.
maybe if i can't pay for gas anymore, or making more milage i go for lpg.

Oh, I see, I asked 'cause the most of the car I have seen in Holland, also american classic had a lpg system, but in a car like this, I wonder where the lpg tank could be placed to have a resonable milage with, the lpg that install with a tank that seems a ring-shaped cake and is placed instead the spare- wheel is ridicolous in a car like this, the gas contained in the tank is not enough to switch on the engine either. I also use unleaded gasoline
nope, most people put them in the trunk.
60 liters or more, put some stiffer shocks and coilsprings.
I am thinking about it, but don't want the fillercap drilled and mounted trough my body panels.
I'm asking around for regulations, if i might fill her up in the trunk.
so i do not have to drill holes trough the body tou mount the fillercap.
And lpg contains a higher octane 100+ so you could ise a higher compressions piston.

Oh, mine was just curiosity, for the milege I do I am not sure for the economic convenience to install a lpg system, that in Italy is very expensive, plus the shocks and the springs to replace, and if you don't find a good installer that make a good regulation the car does not run as it should, and for last, I quote with you that I don't want holes trough the body
