Best off staying stock?
After explaining to a co-worker how much i loved me 84 2 door delta 88 he told me he had an 83 4 door that had been sitting a little while that i could have. after driving it for a little while the old lady found a job that wasnt very close to the house and she needed to drive myyy olds. well i hadnt fully broken that puppy in and worked the bugs out so she ended up overheating a few times and never while i was around and she got it way too hot and i now think that the 307 is cooked. I know i can get a 307 for free and throw it right in, however i wouldn't be too upset with having a stout 350 in there. i know a local yard had a 69 or 70 350 4 door cutlass 300 for the motor there is also a guy with a 350 of an unknown year with a few bolt ons in a rotted out regal that i have been trying to get him to let go of. my problem is this, would a 350 DIRECTLY swap into my delta. i mean i know it would all bolt in and everything but what about vacuum and electronics? would i want a complete motor with the carb and all? accessories are interchangable correct? this is no show car and is rough around the edges but i would like to have a little more speed and maybe try that rustoleum paint job down the road. my 2 door has a hacked in 350 with wires and whatever else hanging everywhere but i would like a little cleaner of a swap if i were to do it. otherwise i would just keep the 307 for sure
Yes even the CCC system will swap over. If you get rid of the CCC system, the check engine light would stay on, but that is just a bulb removal.
A bunch of wires can be pulled out of the engine bay if you ditch the CCC system. But if its all working fine right now, why ditch it?

I have also heard that the 350 will swap over and the CCC will be happy as long as the CCC carb is tuned to the 350.
I have heard guys on the G-body forum doing that and even fooling the inspection guys. Extra power to boot!

well truthfully the engine light is already on and off from time to time. the previous owner said it has been like that since he replaced the blown 200 for a th350. I was not aware that the ccc stuff would swap over. how hard is it to tune those? same as a standard carb? i suppose i would only want to really keep those if i got the stock 350 because if the guy had intake and cab on the other motor i wouldn't want to disrupt the combo eh? could have been a bum combo anyways since he always says that he put all this work into an olds motor and it still wont touch a chevy...
